ABOUT

Welcome. I'm Roza Baghdassarian, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant serving families in the Los Angeles area. I strive to guide, prepare and support my clients through the varied stages of lactation and breastfeeding. My journey toward becoming a lactation consultant stems from a deep interest in all things related to pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding.

I grew up in Australia with agrarian roots, in a place where breastfeeding was the norm. As a young adult, I settled in Los Angeles, California with my husband. I registered for college classes and completed didactic and clinical course work at the Lactation Institute and Breastfeeding Clinic in Encino, California. Following the birth of my first daughter, I became actively involved in my local La Leche League group and eventually became an accredited leader.

During my three intensive years at the Lactation Institute and Breastfeeding Clinic, I earned a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Human Development with a specialization in Early Childhood Education, followed by a Master’s of Arts Degree in Human Development with a specialization in human lactation. I graduated from the UC San Diego Lactation Consultant program prior to sitting for and passing a rigorous board examination to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

Over the past 17 years I’ve worked in the Breastfeeding Department at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, supported breastfeeding parents in the mother-baby unit, neonatal intensive care unit, and in Outpatient Women's Services as breastfeeding instructor for expectant and new parents, nursing staff and physicians.

Following the birth of my second daughter, I transitioned to a full time private practice and founded the Mother-Infant Lactation Center (MILC). I currently offer private office and home visit consultations, teach breastfeeding classes, facilitate several breastfeeding support groups and lecture on various lactation topics.

I'm deeply passionate supporting new parents and love my work as an IBCLC. As a compassionate and experienced lactation consultant, I pride myself on being an effective communicator and offering care and breastfeeding solution that is customized for each family.

I think it’s important to remain current in new practices, research and recommendations and as such I make it a priority to attend conferences and seminars. I am a member of and am professionally affiliated with the United States Lactation Consultant Association, International Lactation Consultant Association, and La Leche League International.
